The video of the Dhurandhar star exiting Mehta's office quickly went viral, with fans speculating that the meeting is linked to his upcoming zombie sci-fi film, Pralay.

Ranveer did not stop for the paparazzi during the outing. Dressed in black and wearing a mask, he walked straight to his car as cameras followed him. Directed by Hansal Mehta's director-son Jai Mehta, Pralay is set in a collapsing Mumbai hit by both a global pandemic and a fictional zombie outbreak. The story reportedly follows a married couple trying to survive amid a city-wide lockdown.

Ranveer Singh-Farhan Akhtar's Don 3 dispute

The speculation about Pralay has come following the Don 3 controversy. The Don 3 dispute involving Ranveer Singh and filmmaker Farhan Akhtar has escalated into a major legal and industry dispute, highlighting the intricate politics of Bollywood trade unions. The friction began following Ranveer's abrupt, last-minute withdrawal from the highly anticipated action franchise. Excel Entertainment, led by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, filed a formal complaint with the Indian Film & Television Directors' Association (IFTDA), claiming the actor’s sudden exit—allegedly due to script changes—caused a massive financial loss of approximately Rs 45 crore spent during three years of pre-production.

The matter was subsequently referred to the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE). Citing Ranveer's failure to respond to three separate notices, FWICE issued a strict non-cooperation directive against the actor, effectively stopping its four lakh members from working on any of his future projects. This collective action sparked intense debate regarding trade union authority, given that independent stars do not fall under FWICE's direct jurisdiction. Ranveer countered by serving a legal notice to the federation, prompting intervention from major bodies like the Producers Guild of India, which eventually led to the directive being withdrawn. Ranveer’s spokesperson maintained that the actor holds the highest regard for the fraternity, preferring to handle professional matters with dignity and restraint.

Ranveer Singh's debut as producer

Pralay is particularly significant for Ranveer Singh because it marks the first production under his own banner, Maa Kasam Films. Reports suggest the actor is closely involved in the film’s creative process, including script development, storyboarding and visual effects planning.

The project also introduces a fresh on-screen pairing, with Malayalam actor Kalyani Priyadarshan set to make her Bollywood debut opposite Singh. She was last seen in the Mollywood blockbuster Lokah: Chapter 1. Pralay is being mounted on a massive scale with a reported budget of around Rs 300 crore, making it one of the most expensive films of Singh’s career so far, as reported by Pinkvilla.

Ranveer's last theatrical release was director Aditya Dhar's espionage-thriller, Dhurandhar: The Revenge (2026). The film also featured actors Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Danish Pandor, Sanjay Dutt, Gaurav Gera, Manav Gohil, Saumya Tandon and Udaybir Sandhu in key roles.

Dhurandhar: The Revenge theatrically released on March 19, 2026. The film is available for streaming on Netflix.
