Actor Salman Khan paid an emotional tribute to his late co-actor Pradeep Rawat after the actor's death. Rawat died at the age of 74 on Tuesday evening at a hospital in Bhiwandi following a battle with blood cancer.

Khan shared the tribute on his Instagram Story, where he posted a throwback picture with Rawat. Alongside the image, he wrote, "Shared many good moments with you brother.. May you rest in peace (sic)." Khan worked with Rawat in Baaghi (1990), Patthar Ke Phool (1991) and Sangdil Sanam (1994).

Besides Salman’s tribute, several film members of the film industry attended the last rites, including Rawat's Lagaan and Ghajini co-actor Aamir Khan, director Ashutosh Gowariker, filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, and actors Akhilendra Mishra, Raj Arjun, Karan V Grover, Surendra Pal, and Ruhanika Dhawan. Actor Yashpal Sharma while paying tribute to Rawat on Wedensday, Auugust 5, wrote, "Pradeep Rawat, our Ghajini, Deva of Lagaan, RIP (sic)."

The All Indian Cine Workers Association said on X, "We are deeply saddened by the passing of veteran Bollywood actor Pradeep Rawat at the age of 74. With his powerful screen presence, he portrayed some of the most unforgettable villainous characters alongside many of Bollywood's legendary comedians and actors. His remarkable performances and immense contribution to Indian cinema will always be remembered and cherished by generations of film lovers (sic)."

Born on January 21, 1952, in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, Rawat built a versatile, four-decade career spanning Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and other regional cinema. He gained early fame as Ashwatthama in BR Chopra's iconic series Mahabharat, later delivering memorable big-screen performances in hits like Ghajini, Lagaan, and Sarfarosh.

Aged 74, Rawat had been battling the illness for the past five years. His business manager, Siddharth Tiwari, confirmed the news to India Today. He said the actor had recovered earlier, but the cancer relapsed a few months ago. Tiwari said Rawat had been in hospital for the last couple of months and that his condition worsened over the past few days before he died on Tuesday evening.

He is survived by his wife, Kalyani Rawat, and their son, Vikramaditya.
