Amid Janhvi Kapoor's Peddi backlash, Sanjay Gupta warns of social media's impact.

Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta has continued to speak out on social media on developments in the film industry. Days after he questioned the Federation of West India Cine Employees' (FWICE) decision to ban Ranveer Singh in connection with the Don 3 dispute, a stand that drew a sharp response from FWICE, Gupta has now seemingly weighed in on the online backlash directed at Janhvi Kapoor for her scenes in Ram Charan's Peddi.

Without naming Janhvi Kapoor, Gupta posted on X about the impact of social media on young actors. He said actors whose careers have barely begun are being pushed into a harsh and unforgiving environment, and warned that they need to be extremely careful about the choices they make.

In his post, Gupta wrote, “Social Media is literally destroying careers of actors that have hardly taken off. They are facing a ruthless & unforgiving world. They need to realise just how very careful they need to be with their choices. The audience is judge, jury and algorithm.”

Gupta has been vocal online in recent days. His remarks on FWICE's move against Ranveer Singh over the Don 3 issue had sparked discussion, and the industry body responded sharply to him. Since then, he has continued to share his views on issues within the industry.

Over the years, Gupta has directed films including Aatish, Ram Shastra, Hameshaa, Jung, Kaante, Musafir, Zinda, Dus Kahaniyaan, Jazbaa and Kaabil. His latest project, The Miranda Brothers, was released on JioHotstar in 2024. Known for his long association with Sanjay Dutt and John Abraham, Gupta remains a familiar name in Hindi cinema as his recent social media comments continue to draw attention.
