Will give up my life if proven guilty: Raj Kundra on pornography case
Businessman-turned-actor Raj Kundra has again defended himself in the ongoing pornography case and said he is ready to face punishment if found guilty. He also said the arrest led to the shutdown of his businesses and left him scarred by 63 days in Arthur Road Jail.
It’s been five years since Raj Kundra has been waiting for justice over his ongoing pornography case, with the actor now declaring he is ready to face the consequences and give up his life if found guilty. In 2021, Kundra was accused of distributing pornographic content through mobile applications, leading to an arrest and 63 days in jail for a crime he maintains he did not commit.
Even today, Kundra emphasised that he wants the matter resolved. “Out of all the accused, I am constantly saying that if I have done something wrong, punish me. Put an end to it once and for all. But, give me a clean chit if I haven't done anything wrong, and I know I haven't done," he said.
He remains resolute about his stance regarding the final verdict. "I have been fighting this case for the past five years. I will still say today, I am ready to give up my life if I am found guilty,” Kundra added.
Recently, the actor-businessman revisited the horror of that phase and revealed shutting down all of his businesses after he was arrested and blamed for something he hadn’t done.
“During my dark phase, Shilpa and I decided to shut down our businesses. There were investments in sectors - Rajasthan Royals, Mixed Martial Arts, we had launched a home shopping centre and I had a technology company in the name of my son, Viaan Industries. Nearly 4000 people were earning a living through this,” he said.
“I was arrested and blamed for something I hadn’t done. It hurt to know that after adding to the growth of India’s startup system, I had to shut down all of it. I was called just for a statement when I was arrested,” Kundra added.
Despite the struggle, Raj Kundra would not want to extract those 63 days out of his life. “Those 63 days in Arthur Road Jail have been the horrors of my life in its entirety. The times were such that I didn’t know if I would be able to see the next morning," he said.
Kundra highlighted that the difficult experience ultimately shaped his perspective. "I wouldn’t want to change any other chapter of my life. If I hadn’t seen those 63 days, I wouldn’t be the Raj Kundra that I am today. I wouldn’t have known who my people are, and who aren’t,” he concluded.
Kundra is a British-Indian business entrepreneur and has been married to actor Shilpa Shetty since 2009. The couple welcomed their son in May 2012. The duo had a second child, a girl, on 15 February 2020 via surrogacy.
Kundra featured in the reality show The Traitors Season 1 in 2025 and made his Punjabi cinema debut with Mehar, directed by Rakesh Mehta.
