Actor Ansiba Hassan defamation case: FIR against Tini Tom over communal remarks
An Ernakulam magistrate court has directed police to register a case against Tini Tom on actor Ansiba Hassan's complaint. The order follows her allegations of defamation and communal slurs.

The Ernakulam Judicial First Class Magistrate Court has directed the police to register a case against Malayalam actor Tini Tom based on a complaint filed by actor Ansiba Hassan.
Ansiba, best known for her role in the Drishyam films, had alleged that Tini Tom and certain members of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) subjected her to character defamation and made false communal allegations against her.
In her complaint, Ansiba claimed that an AMMA member informed her that Tini Tom had allegedly referred to her as a"jihadi", accused her of attempting to convert his driver to Islam, and spread rumours about her personal life. She has maintained that these allegations were defamatory and caused serious damage to her reputation.
Ansiba had initially approached the Kadavanthara Police with her complaint. Although her statement was recorded, the police did not register a First Information Report (FIR), saying that they had not found sufficient material to initiate criminal proceedings.
Subsequently, she moved the Ernakulam Judicial FirstClass Magistrate Court, seeking intervention. The court has now directed the police to register a case and proceed in accordance with the law.
The allegations against Tini Tom remain claims made by the complainant. The court's order pertains to the registration of a case and should not be construed as a finding on the merits of the allegations. The matter is now expected to proceed as per the legal process.
