Tamil films Immortal, The Dark Heaven postponed to avoid clash with Jana Nayagan

With anticipation for Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay's Jana Nayagan reaching a fever pitch ahead of its July 23 release, two Tamil films, namely, GV Prakash's Immortal and Sidhu Sid's The Dark Heaven, have postponed their theatrical releases to avoid clashing with the much-awaited film.

Actor-composer GV Prakash Kumar announced that his upcoming supernatural horror-thriller Immortal, which was initially slated for a July 17 release, will now hit theatres on September 4, 2026. This decision was taken keeping in mind about theatre owners allotting the majority of screens to Jana Nayagan next week, which could give Immortal an unfair advantage within few days of release.

Sharing a clip from the film, he wrote, "Thalapathy vandha thalli poyi dhaaney aaganum adhuvum one last time! (When Thalapathy arrives, we have to step aside... especially since it's his one last time). Best of luck team JN... #Immortal will release in theatres on September 4th with ur support and love (sic)."

Directed by Mariyappan Chinna, Immortal stars GV Prakash Kumar and Kayadu Lohar. The dark fantasy horror-thriller follows a man relentlessly hunted by a terrifying supernatural force and features music by Sam CS.

Meanwhile, the makers of The Dark Heaven also announced that they were pushing back the film's release in view of Jana Nayagan. In a statement, the team said, "In light of Jana Nayagan, starring Thalapathy Vijay, releasing on July 23, our team has decided to postpone the release of our film The Dark Heaven, which was originally scheduled for July 17, to a new date that will be announced soon."

The statement added, "Like millions of fans across the world, we too are eagerly looking forward to witnessing Thalapathy's 'One Last Dance' on the big screen. At the same time, we sincerely request all fans to celebrate this special occasion responsibly and ensure everyone's safety while enjoying this memorable cinematic event."
