More about Jana Nayagan

Directed by H. Vinoth, Jana Nayagan is Vijay’s final theatrical release before his full-time political career.

India Today gave the film 2 stars. A part of the review read: “Even with the censor board's edits softening the TVK branding, Jana Nayagan doesn't feel like a film that was reined in — it feels like a film whose problems were never really about the politics in the first place. Strip away the manifesto, and what's left is a sloppily assembled entertainer held up almost entirely by its lead and its music.”

The film stars Vijay as Vetri Kondan, a former police officer who is determined to fulfil a promise by training his adopted daughter, Viji, played by Mamitha Baiju, to become a soldier. Bobby Deol plays John Himler, the antagonist.
