Actor Khushbu tears up as daughter gets married, holds husband Sundar C in joy
Actor-politician Khushbu Sundar turned emotional as daughter Avantika married Shravan Sreenivasan in an intimate Goa ceremony last week. A video from the event with Khushbu wiping her tears in joy surfaced online.

Actor-politician Khushbu Sundar was overcome with emotion as her elder daughter Avantika Sundar married Shravan Sreenivasan in an intimate wedding ceremony in Goa last week. A video from the celebrations captured the heartfelt moment as Khushbu watched her daughter’s wedding rituals, wiping away tears of joy and holding husband Sundar C close.
The wedding, held on June 25, was attended by close friends and members of the film industry. The glimpse shared by the event management company showed Khushbu beginning the ceremony by lighting the traditional lamp, followed by the arrival of several celebrities including Radikaa Sarathkumar, Sarathkumar, Suhasini Maniratnam, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Venkatesh Daggubati, Chiranjeevi, Tamannaah Bhatia and Trisha Krishnan.
As Shravan tied the thaali (mangalsutra) around Avantika’s neck, Khushbu was seen praying and getting emotional. Sundar C watched the ceremony with happiness, with the couple sharing a warm moment as they celebrated the beginning of their daughter’s new chapter. Their younger daughter Anandita was also seen getting emotional during the ceremony, while Avantika’s pet became part of the intimate celebrations.
Sharing the first pictures from the wedding, Khushbu wrote about the overwhelming emotions of seeing her daughter begin a new journey.
“Words seem inadequate to express the emotions we are experiencing,” she wrote, adding that family has always been at the centre of everything they cherish.
Calling it a small and intimate celebration, Khushbu said the wedding was exactly how the couple envisioned it and that the family was honoured to fulfil their wishes.
However, her posts later drew criticism online after veteran filmmaker-actor K Bhagyaraj, who had attended the wedding, died on June 27 following a heart attack. Some users questioned her decision to share wedding moments while the industry was mourning his death.
Responding to one such comment, Khushbu defended her right to celebrate her daughter’s milestone and said the wedding had taken place less than 48 hours before Bhagyaraj’s death. The filmmaker had attended the wedding in Goa, which marked his last public appearance.
“Why follow me then? Only to criticise?” she responded, adding that she knew Bhagyaraj’s family and situation better and that she had “all the right to be happy."
Despite the online debate, the wedding remained a deeply personal family moment for Khushbu and Sundar C that is marked by tears, pride and the joy of watching their daughter step into a new phase of life.
