Maa Inti Bangaaram beats Arundhati: Samantha scores Telugu's top woman-led hit

Samantha Ruth Prabhu's recently released film, Maa Inti Bangaaram, has continued its strong run at the box office and has now surpassed the lifetime worldwide earnings of Anushka Shetty's 2009 film Arundhati. With this, Maa Inti Bangaaram has emerged as Telugu cinema's biggest woman-led hit. The action-family thriller added another solid day at the ticket counters on Day 10, taking its worldwide gross to Rs 78.71 crore.
Anushka Shetty's Arundhati has remained on top of the woman-led hit in Telugu cinema since 2009 by grossing Rs 70 crore. That Samantha's Maa Inti Bangaaram managed to achieve this feat in just 10 days is monumental for a woman-led film. The Samantha-starrer is now inching towards Rs 100-crore mark globally.
According to the trade website, Sacnilk, the film collected Rs 5.30 crore nett (gross minus taxes) in India on its tenth day, up 8.2 per cent from the Rs 4.90 crore it earned on Day 9. Its total India nett collection has now reached Rs 48.25 crore, while the India gross stands at Rs 55.86 crore. The film also remained steady overseas, adding Rs 1 crore on Day 10 and taking its international gross to Rs 22.85 crore.

Of the film's Day 10 India nett collection, the Telugu version contributed Rs 5.05 crore and the Tamil version added Rs 25 lakh. State-wise figures underlined its strength in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, where it grossed Rs 4.50 crore on Sunday. Karnataka brought in Rs 1.10 crore, followed by Tamil Nadu with Rs 41 lakh. Kerala contributed Rs 1 lakh, while the rest of India added Rs 12 lakh. Together, these territories helped the film post a Day 10 India gross of Rs 6.14 crore.
In the domestic market, the Telugu version recorded an overall occupancy of 46.94 per cent on Sunday. Afternoon and evening shows performed best with occupancies of 56.23 per cent and 58.46 per cent respectively, while morning shows stood at 27.31 per cent and night shows closed at 33.62 per cent.
The Tamil version registered an overall occupancy of 40.21 per cent, with afternoon shows seeing the highest turnout at 51 per cent. Morning, evening and night shows recorded occupancies of 25.14 per cent, 22.86 per cent and 36 per cent respectively.
