Rumours of Mohanlal joining hands with Manjummel Boys director Chidambaram for a new film have been doing the rounds for the past few days, raising expectations among fans. However, Chidambaram has now reacted to the reports in a recent interview.

Speaking to Media One during the promotions of his upcoming film Balan: The Boy, the filmmaker clarified that he has not had any conversations with Mohanlal regarding a project. The speculation gained momentum after the director’s father shared a social media post suggesting that the collaboration was nearing confirmation.

He explained that his father might have come across a rumour and shared it online, but as of now, there have been no discussions about a collaboration.

Chidambaram added that although he has met Mohanlal on casual occasions, the two have never spoken about working together. When asked whether he has an idea for a film with the veteran actor, the director said that if he ever gets the opportunity, he would want to make a complete entertainer packed with the iconic moments that audiences associate with a Mohanlal-starrer.

On the work front

Chidambaram is gearing up for the release of Balan: The Boy, a mystery psychological thriller centred on a teenager searching for his missing mother while uncovering painful truths about his past. The film features Farzana Palathingal, Adhisheshan KR, Zinan, Jean Paul Lal and Girish AD in key roles, with Tovino Thomas making a cameo appearance.

Written by Aavesham director Jithu Madhavan, the film is scheduled to hit theatres on June 19.

Mohanlal, on the other hand, is riding high on the success of Drishyam 3. Directed by Jeethu Joseph, the thriller has reportedly grossed Rs 238.61 crore worldwide in 25 days, making it the fourth highest-grossing Malayalam film and Mohanlal’s second entry in the all-time top five.

The actor is currently shooting for Athimanoharam, directed by Tharun Moorthy, and also has projects lined up with Vishnu Mohan, Priyadarshan and Dileesh Pothan.

The actor is also set to make cameo appearances in several upcoming films, including Khalifa, Jailer 2 and his daughter Vismaya Mohanlal’s debut film Thudakkam.
