During an interview with India Today, Kannada actor Shiva Rajkumar, who plays Ram Charan's wrestling coach Gournaidu in the film, expressed his admiration for the actor's performance. "I hope everybody loves this film (Peddi) and I was just saying this to Ram Charan sir that he should get a National Award for this. I'm actually praying for that. I had told this about Allu Arjun sir after watching Pushpa, that I'm keeping my fingers crossed and praying like that," he said.
