The Madras High Court on Tuesday dismissed a petition filed by actor Ravi Mohan seeking more time for the Family Welfare Court to decide proceedings linked to an interim maintenance plea moved by his estranged wife, Aarti Ravi. The matter arises from the matrimonial dispute between the couple, which is being heard by the Family Welfare Court in Chennai as part of ongoing divorce proceedings.

Aarti Ravi had earlier approached the Family Welfare Court alleging that Ravi Mohan had not paid interim maintenance from April 2025 onwards, including amounts towards their children’s school fees. According to her plea, the petition was not taken up for hearing, following which she moved the Madras High Court seeking a direction for an early hearing of her interim maintenance application.

Acting on her request, the High Court had directed the Family Welfare Court to hear the petition and pass appropriate orders within two weeks. Ravi Mohan then filed a fresh plea before the High Court asking for an extension of the time granted to the lower court to complete the proceedings.

The case came up before Justice Abdul Quddhose. During the hearing, senior advocate J Ravindran, appearing for Aarti , opposed the request and argued against any extension of the deadline earlier fixed by the High Court.

After hearing both sides, Justice Abdul Quddhose dismissed Ravi Mohan’s plea seeking additional time. The court also directed the actor to approach the Family Welfare Court for any further relief related to the proceedings pending before it. With this, the earlier direction to dispose of the interim maintenance petition within the stipulated period will continue to remain in force.

The development comes weeks after Ravi broke down in an emotional press meet in Chennai, where he announced his decision to quit acting till the finalisation of his divorce. During the press conference, he also spoke about his divorce without mentioning Aarti's name (as the divorce case is still underway) and addressed his relationship with singer-spiritual therapist Keneeshaa Francis.

This emotional outburst came after Keneeshaa Francis wrote a cryptic note hinting at ending her current relationship with Ravi and leaving Chennai altogether, giving up her career as a musician and a therapist. Over the past few months, Ravi and Keneeshaa were seen together at several events and their PDA (public display of affection) made headlines several times.

On the film front, Ravi Mohan recently joined the cast of Benz alongside Raghava Lawrence and Nivin Pauly. He is also shooting for his directorial debut, An Ordinary Man. He has recently completed filming for Karathey Babu, directed by Ganesh K Babu, and has teamed up with debut director GND Shyam Kumar for his next project.

Among his other films in the pipeline are the long-delayed Genie and Karthik Yogi’s film, earlier titled Bro Code.
