Samantha Ruth Prabhu said stardom drew her into a relentless cycle of work and expectations. She also reflected on how early success made her egoistic.

Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu has spoken about how stardom affected her. She reflected on how early success made her egoistic and admitted that pressure and expectations gradually took over. The actor also shared how her health break brought about a shift in her perspective on both her career and life.
In an interview with Gulte, Samantha said it was overwhelming for a girl from a small town to suddenly experience such fame and admiration. Recalling the early years of her career, she said people watched her films, cheered for her and called out her name, which made her feel "addicted to the game of stardom."
The actor revealed that she once completed five films in a year, all of which became successful. As a result, many people believed she had a "golden leg", and she felt compelled to live up to the growing expectations.
Samantha also admitted that she became "egoistic as an actor" and never imagined there would be an end to her career. She said that when she was forced to take a break due to her health, she was working harder than ever and constantly looking to take on more projects.
"You become so egoistic as an actor that you see no end; you refuse to see there is an end," said the 39-year-old actor. She added that the break allowed her to finally envision that possibility, which changed her outlook in many ways. During that period, she decided that if she returned to acting, she would have to change several old habits and patterns.
On the work front, Samantha will next be seen in Maa Inti Bangaram. The film will mark her first theatrical release of 2026, following the 2023 films Shaakunthalam and Kushi. In 2024, she featured in Raj & DK’s Prime Video web series Citadel: Honey Bunny alongside Varun Dhawan. In 2025, the actor made a cameo appearance in Subham, which she also produced.
Samantha is also shooting for Raj and DK's upcoming show, Rakt Brahmand (2026).
