Filmmaker Raj Nidimoru on how Samantha stayed relevant for years: She's self-made
Raj Nidimoru said Samantha Ruth Prabhu has stayed relevant by constantly evolving her craft. His remarks, as Maa Inti Bangaaram opened strongly, spotlight longevity in an industry often unkind to women.

Filmmaker Raj Nidimoru showered praise on his actor-wife Samantha Ruth Prabhu, while elaborating on how she stayed relevant in an industry that is never kind to women. Calling her “a hungry and self-made actor”, Raj said Samantha’s ability to reinvent herself and keep improving her craft has helped her sustain a career that has moved beyond stardom.
His comments come amid the release of the successful run of Samantha-led Maa Inti Bangaaram, which is written and co-produced by him. The film crossed Rs 50 crore in just four days.
In an interview with News 18, he explained how he hasn't seen Samantha's early works, but is aware of "adulation she got and the stardom she has enjoyed over many years."
Elaborating more about Samantha staying relevant, he said, We're sadly aware of the shelf-life for actors across industries. We discuss quite a few of these things. But we also realise that beyond a point, it's your acting skills that keeps an actor alive for longer."
According to Raj, Samantha has been constantly aware and wanting to change, improve and find new ways of acting out the scenes. He also applauded her for being so meticulous about her prep, which she keeps hidden from him.
Raj recalled a take which Samantha wasn't happy about. “We talked about it to see how else we can crack it. But most of the times, she would’ve done enough mental homework, which she doesn’t talk about. She brings it forth in her first take itself. That’s why, I usually always take the first take of hers because there’s some kind of a mental preparation to do something different," he said.
The Family Man creator observed that Samantha has cracked the code of making acting look exciting, especially in the last few years. "There are a very few actors who are exciting to watch in certain scenes. That’s something she has honed in herself, especially in the last couple of years. When we sit on the monitor, she used to look at herself and say, ‘I haven’t seen this come out before.'"
How do Samantha and Raj solve creative conflicts?
When asked how do they solve if creative differences arise, director Raj said, "I’m creating it and putting it together, so I win the arguments (laughs). But creative conflict is very little."
Raj also acknowledged that they are in great sync. If somebody is involved right from the inception, you don’t really have creative conflicts. We were both on the same track."
Samantha and Raj Nidimoru worked together for the first time on The Family Man 2 along with co-creator DK. The trio joined hands again in Citadel: Honey Bunny and are currently working on Netflix's Rakt Brahmand: The Bloody Kingdom.
