5-foot black cobra found in kitchen of Rajasthan juvenile home, rescued safely
A 5-foot black cobra was found in the kitchen of a juvenile home in Kota on Tuesday. The area was evacuated while the snake was rescued safely.
Panic gripped a juvenile detention home in Rajasthan's Kota after a 5-foot black cobra was found inside the facility's kitchen in the early hours of Tuesday.
Soon after the venomous snake was spotted, staff members immediately alerted the caretaker and security guard, who called a rescue team.
Snake catcher Govind Sharma said the cobra was found hiding against a wall near the kitchen. As a precaution, the area was evacuated before the rescue operation began.
Given that cobras are highly venomous, the snake was rescued with caution and safely captured without any injuries to people or the reptile.
Following the rescue, the forest department was informed. After completing the required formalities, the cobra was released into its natural habitat.
The incident raised concerns as the juvenile home houses several children. Had the snake made its way from the kitchen into the residential area, it could have posed a serious risk to those staying at the facility.
Following the rescue, Govind Sharma urged the public not to harm snakes or other wild animals if they are spotted in homes or public places. Instead, he advised people to immediately inform the forest department or trained wildlife rescuers so that the animals can be safely relocated while ensuring public safety.
