Blue Tokai co-founder applauds Delhi outlet for giving water, shelter to CJP protesters
Blue Tokai's Janpath outlet sheltered CJP protesters and refilled water bottles for free during the Delhi protests. The gesture received praise online as the co-founder said basic decency should not be exceptional.
Blue Tokai's co-founder publicly praised one of the coffee chain's Delhi outlets after staff opened their doors to Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protesters, offering shelter and free drinking water amid the ongoing demonstrations near Jantar Mantar.
Matt Chitharanjan, co-founder of Blue Tokai Coffee Roasters, reshared a viral Instagram video on his story, applauding the actions of the Janpath outlet's employees during the CJP protests.
The original video, posted by Instagram user Gautham Subramaniam, showed staff members refilling empty water bottles free of charge for people caught up in the demonstrations. It also captured several protesters taking refuge inside the cafe, using the outlet as a safe space away from the crowds outside.
An overlay on the video read: "A big up to Blue Tokai Janpath road, for giving people shelter and allowing everyone to refill their bottles for free during yesterday's protest."
Resharing the clip on his Instagram story, Chitharanjan praised the staff for their response, writing: "So, so proud of our team for handling the violence and chaos so well. But I also wish that being decent to people wasn't so rare that it gets celebrated."
