It isn't every day that a tigress and her three cubs walk past your car in the wild. But that's exactly what happened to one family during an evening drive through Maharashtra's Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, in a moment now going viral online.

The video was shared on Instagram by content creator Ankush Jizilwar, who documented the unforgettable evening safari with his family.

According to Ankush, the family had entered the reserve through the Padmapur Gate on July 15, hoping to spot wildlife. They were initially told a leopard had been seen nearby, but despite waiting and searching, the elusive big cat remained out of sight.

After a short stop at Moharli for snacks, the family continued their drive towards Bhamdeli village when people suddenly began shouting, "Tiger! Tiger!" Curious visitors gathered near the agricultural fields, hoping for a glimpse. But after waiting for a while without any luck, the family decided to head back.

It was on the return journey that everything changed.

"As we crossed Moharli village, we noticed three cars parked on the roadside," Ankush wrote. At first, they could only see the back of a tiger disappearing into the forest and assumed the sighting was over.

Then, at exactly 7:03 pm, "something unbelievable happened."

"Suddenly, a tigress came out of the tall grass, just a few metres from our car," he recalled. The majestic animal was Chhoti Madhu.

Moments later, one tiny cub emerged from the grass, followed by two more. The now-viral video captures the tigress calmly leading all three cubs across the path, offering an exceptionally rare glimpse into life in the wild.

The encounter also briefly turned tense when a biker unknowingly rode towards the tigress. Ankush said he immediately flashed his headlights to warn the rider, who noticed the signal in time and stopped at a safe distance.

"Watching Chhoti Madhu walking with her three little cubs, from such a close distance in the wild, was one of the most incredible wildlife experiences my family has ever had," he wrote, adding that moments like these highlight the importance of protecting forests and wildlife.

The video has since won over social media, with users calling it breathtaking, goosebump-inducing and a reminder of the beauty that exists in India's forests.
