Heavy monsoon showers left parts of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee campus waterlogged, but a group of students responded with an unexpected display of creativity by turning a large board into a makeshift boat.

The moment was shared by the Instagram page Ph.D Baddies, which posted a video showing students navigating the flooded campus in an unconventional way.

In the clip, several students were seen standing atop a large board floating on the accumulated rainwater, each carrying an umbrella as they balanced themselves. Using long sticks as paddles, they slowly propelled the makeshift raft through the flooded stretch, drawing laughs from those watching nearby.

The video also showed other parts of the campus where roads had disappeared beneath rainwater, with large sections submerged following the heavy downpour. Despite the waterlogging, the students appeared to make the most of the situation, transforming an inconvenience into a light-hearted moment.

The page captioned the post, “Kasturba Bhawan boat service,” referring to one of the campus hostels.
