A bridal mehendi is often a reflection of a couple's story. For Anusha Jain, that story was first written by ChatGPT. The AI chatbot helped weave together years of shared memories into a personalised design that later came alive on her hands.
A content strategist based in Mumbai, Jain shared glimpses of her intricate bridal mehendi from her wedding celebrations in Jaipur. While the artwork drew admiration for its detail, it was the story behind the design that truly caught people's attention.
Anusha's journey was later featured on ChatGPT's official Instagram page, where she explained why she wanted to move away from a traditional mehendi design.
"I'm a January 2026 bride, and there was one thing I knew for sure. I did not want a conventional mehendi design. I wanted it to feel personal. I wanted it to tell our story," she wrote.
However, translating years of memories into a single design seemed daunting.
"But how do you explain a thousand little memories to a mehendi artist? Our cities, our families, our inside jokes, our wedding venue, and all the tiny details that only made sense to us. It felt impossible to bring everything together in one design."
The idea came from an unexpected source.
"Then my brother jokingly said, 'Why don't you try ChatGPT?' I laughed. And then I actually did."
Anusha said she began telling ChatGPT everything she could think of; from where the couple came from to memorable moments, family details and ideas she wanted incorporated into the artwork.
"I kept blabbering, and ChatGPT somehow turned it all into one beautiful mehendi concept," she wrote.
The final design was packed with meaningful elements, including references to Mumbai and Jaipur, a family crossword, a map of the couple's wedding venue and several tiny personalised details that only the bride and groom understood. The artwork also featured motifs such as a Delhi auto, a Jaipur elephant and other symbols tied to their journey together.
On the day of the ceremony, Anusha simply handed the reference to her mehendi artist and said, "Didi, bas yeh banate jao."
The artist meticulously recreated the concept, bringing every little detail to life.
