A traffic cop in Surat received a big round of applause online after his timely intervention and CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) training helped save the life of a middle-aged man who suddenly collapsed on a road.

Officials said that the man was walking when he suddenly felt dizzy, lost consciousness and collapsed on the road.
Paresh Mali, who was on duty nearby, noticed the man and immediately alerted the police control room apart from calling the ambulance service.
Realising that waiting for the ambulance could prove dangerous given the man's condition, Mali decided to use the CPR training he had received.
He immediately began administering CPR to the unconscious man on the roadside. After continuous chest compressions, the man gradually regained consciousness.
An ambulance reached the spot shortly afterwards. The medical team examined the man and found his condition to be stable. He was later safely handed over to his family.
