MG Hector Tomahawk launch live: Price, range, battery, features and all you need to know

JSW MG Motor India has introduced the Hector Tomahawk PHEV at Rs 25.69 lakh (ex-showroom), alongside the electric version. Claimed to be India’s first mainstream plug-in hybrid SUV, bookings are now open, with deliveries set to begin in November.

The Hector Tomahawk PHEV combines a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with a 20.5kWh battery pack. MG claims around 40kpl, an EV-only range of over 115km and a combined range exceeding 1,100km.

The engine produces 201bhp and it can do 0-100kmph in 9 seconds.

The plug-in hybrid Hector Tomohawk comes with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and the combined range is over 1,100km and 115km on just electric power.

In the MG Hector Tomohawk, the electric motor generates 204bhp and 310Nm of peak torque.

The MG Hector Tomohawk comes with a 69.2kWh LFP battery with a claimed range of 517km on a single charge.

The 5-seater offers 610 litres of boot space, while the 7-seater provides 528 litres with the third row folded.

MG's upcoming three-row SUV will be called the Hector Tomohawk.

The MG Hector Tomohawk will likely measure around 4.7m in length, 1.8m in width, and 1.75m in height with a wheelbase of 2.8m.

The MG Hector Tomohawk will be the first production model to be based on the company’s new ADAPT platform.

The launch event of the MG Hector Tomohawk is happening in Mumbai and the event will commence shortly.

In July, JSW MG Motor India unveiled MG ADAPT (Advance Drive Architecture Platform Technology), claiming it as India’s first multi-NEV platform. The modular architecture can support EVs, hybrids, PHEVs and range-extender EVs on a common platform.

The Wuling Starlight 560 gets a 69.2kWh LFP battery and a 204bhp, 310Nm electric motor, offering up to 530km of claimed CLTC range. A similar setup could give the Hector Tomahawk over 500km of range.

MG is yet to disclose the India-spec battery and motor details, but the SUV is expected to share its powertrain components with the Wuling Starlight 560 sold overseas.

The expected feature list includes a large touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, powered and ventilated front seats, powered tailgate and wireless charging. It could also get three-row AC vents, a 360-degree camera, ADAS, six airbags and an electronic parking brake.

MG has confirmed three-row seating for the SUV. Earlier teasers showed a beige cabin with a minimalist dashboard, featuring separate digital screens for the driver and infotainment system.
