Delhi EV policy gets 5,678 applications, Rs 4.8 crore released as incentives
The Delhi government has received 5,678 applications under its Electric Vehicle Policy 2026 since July 1. Most claims are for two-wheelers, while scrapping-linked incentives have also begun reaching buyers.
The Delhi government has received 5,678 applications for incentives under the Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy 2026 since the scheme came into effect on July 1, with Rs 4.8 crore released to 1,664 beneficiaries so far, officials said on Thursday.
Most of the processed applications were for electric two-wheelers. Of the 1,664 applications processed, 1,648 were from two-wheeler EV buyers, who received Rs 4.6 crore in incentives.
The remaining 4,014 applications are currently under process, a government official said.
MOST APPLICATIONS FOR TWO-WHEELERS
Government data showed that 5,621 of the 5,678 applications received since the policy was implemented were for electric two-wheelers.
Under the policy, buyers of electric two-wheelers can receive an incentive of up to Rs 30,000 in the first year. The incentive will be up to Rs 20,000 in the second year and up to Rs 10,000 in the third year.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched the online portal for the Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy 2026 on July 3, allowing people to apply for incentives.
SCRAPPING INCENTIVE FOR OLD VEHICLES
The policy also provides incentives for scrapping eligible BS-IV or older vehicles while buying a new electric vehicle.
Eligible buyers can receive a scrapping incentive of Rs 1 lakh for cars and Rs 10,000 for two-wheelers.
So far, 41 new EV buyers have received incentives under the scrapping provision, according to the government.
