Fire in Delhi factory sparks panic, 6 injured after jumping from nearby building
While no one was injured due to the fire itself, six people, including women and children, jumped down from another building across the street due to panic and sustained injuries.
A fire broke out at a warehouse in Delhi's Swaroop Nagar on Sunday. The incident took place on the premises of a factory where Judo dress and boxing gloves are manufactured, the police said.
The fire broke out on the ground and first floors of the building housing the factory, an official said.
While no one was injured due to the fire itself, six people, including women and children, jumped down from another building across the street due to panic and sustained injuries, the official added.
All of them were rushed to hospital and are said to be out of danger.
The factory was being run in a residential locality. As many as 15 fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the blaze was doused successfully.
Videos from the scene showed black smoke billowing from the building.
A call regarding the fire was received by the Delhi Fire Service at 11.05 am, an official said.
Since the incident took place on Sunday, the staff of the factory were not on duty.
