Video: Huge dust storm and rain batter Delhi-NCR; bring relief from heat

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the ongoing dust storm is likely to be followed by thunderstorms, lightning and light rainfall as moisture-laden winds interact with an unstable atmospheric system. The expected rain is likely to reduce dust levels and bring further relief from the prevailing heat.

Alerts were also issued for several districts in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Areas likely to be affected include Sonipat, Rohtak, Bhiwani and Charkhi Dadri in Haryana; Bagpat, Khekra, Pilakhua and Sikandrabad in Uttar Pradesh; and Alwar, Bhiwadi, Tijara and Deeg in Rajasthan.

Illegal use, safety violations, no emergency exit: Lucknow building a death trap

A massive fire in a commercial complex in Lucknow's Aliganj area has claimed fifteen lives and left nine others injured. The Uttar Pradesh government has initiated a Special Investigation Team and forensic probe into the incident. Investigations reveal severe safety lapses, including the illegal conversion of a residential property for commercial use without necessary infrastructure upgrades. The building housed a coaching centre and a pet shop, where several animals also perished. A major factor contributing to the high death toll was the main gate's biometric auto-lock system, which failed during the blaze, trapping occupants inside. Furthermore, the building lacked adequate staircase space and proper emergency exits. In response to the tragedy, authorities have arrested four individuals, including the building owner, and suspended four government officials for negligence. The injured are currently receiving treatment at a local hospital, with some suffering severe injuries after jumping from the building to escape the flames.
