BMW that flew off Mumbai bridge hit couple 6 months ago, video now goes viral
A video of a March collision involving the BMW that later plunged off Mumbai's Coastal Road bridge has surfaced online. The footage has renewed focus on an earlier complaint as police investigate Sunday's crash that killed three people.
A video showing deceased BMW driver Shanay Gajjar responding rudely after a collision on Mumbai’s Coastal Road on March 29 has surfaced and is going viral on social media.
Gajjar was involved in the earlier incident, in which his BMW collided with a couple travelling on the road.
Omkar Shirke, a resident of Tardeo, had filed a complaint at Gamdevi Police Station following the incident.
Shirke was travelling with his wife when the BMW collided with their vehicle. He also recorded a video of the incident at the time.
In the video now circulating on social media, Shirke can be heard questioning the BMW driver after the collision. Gajjar is seen responding, “What are you doing?” in a manner that Shirke found rude.
BMW CRASHES OFF MUMBAI COASTAL ROAD
The same BMW was involved in a fatal crash on Sunday morning, in which three occupants were killed and another was critically injured after the car plunged from Mumbai’s elevated Coastal Road.
The accident took place at around 5 am. According to the Coastal Road Control Room, the black BMW was travelling from Marine Drive towards Haji Ali when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The car then went off the elevated road and crashed into a construction site below. CCTV footage showed the BMW flying off the Coastal Road bridge before hitting the area underneath.
Three occupants of the car died in the crash. A fourth occupant, an unidentified man aged around 20, suffered severe injuries and was admitted to the trauma ward of a hospital.
He remains in critical condition.
EARLIER COMPLAINT COMES TO LIGHT
The March incident and the complaint filed by Shirke have now come into focus after Sunday’s fatal crash.
The video recorded by Shirke during the earlier collision has also gained attention on social media, with footage showing his interaction with Gajjar after the BMW hit the couple.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding Sunday’s crash, including how the BMW lost control on the elevated road. Further details are awaited.
