ABVP Wins 3 of 4 DUSU Posts, Independent Deepanshu Shokin Takes VP as NSUI Loses

The Congress party and its student wing, the NSUI, have cried foul over the Delhi University student election verdict, alleging malpractice and vote rigging during the counting process. Leaders claimed that university officials colluded with the ABVP and deliberately slowed down vote counting in the final rounds. Further allegations of bogus voting and seizure of student identity cards across multiple colleges were raised, with representatives stating that they plan to approach the court over the discrepancies.

The Delhi Election Commission has served notices to former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and four of his family members under the Unmapped With Last SIR category in the New Delhi constituency (AC40). The notices were issued to Arvind Kejriwal, his wife Sunita Kejriwal, father Gobind Ram Kejriwal, mother Geeta Devi, and 25-year-old son Pulkit Kejriwal, stating their records were not tracked from the previous SIR exercise. The five are among 110 individuals served notices in this specific part segment of the constituency.

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad registered a major victory in the Delhi University Students' Union elections by securing three out of the four central panel posts, including president, secretary, and joint secretary. The post of vice president was won by an independent candidate, while the National Students' Union of India failed to win any seats in the central panel. Union Ministers and Bharatiya Janata Party leaders hailed the mandate as an endorsement of positive youth politics and national ideology among Gen Z voters. Newly elected ABVP representatives outlined their focus on student welfare, campus safety, and nationalism. Meanwhile, the Congress and NSUI raised concerns alleging irregularities and rigging during the election process. Meanwhile, National Students' Union of India president Vinod Jakhar accused the outfit and the university administration of vote-rigging and intentionally slowing down the counting process.
