DUSU Election Result 2026 Live Declared: ABVP wins 3 posts, Independent Deepanshu takes VP

Newly elected DUSU President Yash Dabas of ABVP has said student safety will be among his foremost priorities after taking charge.

Dabas said the new DUSU leadership will conduct a safety audit of every PG accommodation and hostel to identify potential risks and prevent accidents.

"Our foremost and special priority will be to conduct a safety audit of every PG accommodation and hostel, because we do not want an accident like the one at Satya Niketan to happen to anyone in the future," Dabas said.

His remarks come in the aftermath of the Satya Niketan tragedy, which had become a major student safety concern during the DUSU election campaign.

The DUSU Election Results 2026 show a clear split in the final vote counts across the four central posts. ABVP led the vote count for President, Secretary and Joint Secretary, while the Independent candidate topped the Vice-President race.

Deepanshu Shokeen emerged as the independent wildcard of DUSU Election 2026, winning the Vice-President post despite not contesting on an NSUI ticket.

Shokeen had initially sought the NSUI ticket for the DUSU election. His nomination was filed, but he was later asked to withdraw. He refused and chose to contest independently.

The decision paid off. Shokeen defeated ABVP’s Ishu Maurya and NSUI’s Vir Chatrath, winning one of the four key DUSU posts.

By Round 18, Shokeen had 27,501 votes, leading Maurya by 12,995 votes, a massive margin.

A student of Delhi University’s Department of Buddhist Studies, Shokeen had earlier studied at Shaheed Bhagat Singh College. He also became more visible on campus after campaigning on student safety and accommodation issues.

From an NSUI aspirant to an independent DUSU winner, Shokeen became one of the defining faces of DUSU Results 2026.

The DUSU Election Results 2026 delivered one of the closest presidential contests seen in recent years, alongside a voter turnout of 40.46 per cent.

The Delhi University Students’ Union election saw the President’s race repeatedly swing between ABVP’s Yash Dabas and NSUI’s Vijay Shankar Meena. Twice, after Rounds 9 and 14, the two were separated by just one vote.

The contest remained tight deep into the counting process, with the lead changing hands several times before Dabas eventually won the President’s post.

The high voter turnout added another dimension to the DUSU Election 2026 results. With 40.46 per cent of eligible voters casting their ballots, participation was closely watched as counting unfolded across the four central posts.

The final results saw ABVP win three of the four DUSU central posts. Yash Dabas won President, Riya Chhawdi won Secretary and Lakshya Raj Singh won Joint Secretary. Independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen won Vice-President.

The President’s contest, however, remained the biggest talking point of the counting day. From a one-vote difference in the early rounds to changing leads later in the count, the race stayed competitive until the final stages.

The Delhi University Students’ Union election results are out. ABVP has won three of the four central DUSU posts, with Yash Dabas winning President, Riya Chhawdi winning Secretary and Lakshya Raj Singh winning Joint Secretary.

Independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen has won the Vice-President post.

ABVP WINS THREE POSTS

Yash Dabas emerged victorious in the President race, while Riya Chhawdi won the Secretary post. Lakshya Raj Singh also secured the Joint Secretary position, giving ABVP three of the four central posts.

DEEPANSHU SHOKEEN WINS VP

Independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen won the Vice-President contest. Shokeen, who was formerly associated with NSUI, had maintained a substantial lead throughout the counting process.

The final result gives ABVP three central DUSU posts, with the Vice-President position going to an Independent candidate.

ABVP continues to lead in three of the four central DUSU posts after Round 19. Yash Dabas leads the President race by 1,044 votes, while Riya Chhawdi has a 5,883-vote lead in the Secretary contest. Lakshya Raj Singh leads the closely fought Joint Secretary race by 129 votes. Independent Deepanshu Shokeen remains ahead in the Vice-President contest by 13,527 votes.

ABVP is leading 3 of the 4 posts, while Independent Deepanshu Shokeen is ahead in the Vice-President race. The Joint Secretary contest remains the tightest, with Lakshya Raj Singh holding a 129-vote lead.

ABVP is leading the President, Secretary and Joint Secretary races after Round 18, putting the organisation ahead in three of the four central DUSU posts. Independent Deepanshu Shokeen continues to lead the Vice-President contest by a wide margin.

The Joint Secretary race remains close, with a total of 353 votes separating the three leading candidates.
