Over 300 Nashik students miss university exams as rain triggers traffic chaos

Heavy monsoon rains and a land subsidence incident choked the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar road, leaving more than 300 university students stranded before their 10 am examinations. After missing both scheduled papers, students have sought fresh examinations, saying the weather and traffic disruption were beyond their control.

More than 300 students saw their examination plans washed away on Wednesday after heavy rain and a land subsidence incident brought traffic on the Nashik-Trimbakeshwar road to a standstill, leaving hundreds stranded for hours and unable to reach their examination centres on time.

Students from Sandip Foundation College, Brahma Valley College, and Sapkal College, along with other institutions, were travelling to their 10 am examinations when they became stuck in traffic from as early as 8 am. The disruption was triggered by incessant rain and a land subsidence incident at a construction site, which severed the key road link between Nashik and Trimbakeshwar.

ENGINEERING AND PHARMACY STUDENTS HIT

The incident affected first- and second-year engineering students as well as second- and third-year pharmacy students from nearly four major colleges. Despite waiting for hours, many students failed to reach their examination centres on time, leading to widespread frustration.

STUDENTS SEEK CANCELLATION OF EXAMS

Students have now demanded that the authorities cancel the two examination papers scheduled for Wednesday, arguing that the circumstances were beyond their control.

Authorities are yet to respond to the students' demand for the cancellation or rescheduling of the affected examinations.
