All schools and Anganwadi centres in Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district and several districts in Uttar Pradesh will remain closed on September 26 in view of the heavy rainfall warning.
Uttarakhand District Magistrate Ashish Bhatgai has announced a one-day holiday for all government and private schools from Classes 1 to 12, as well as Anganwadi centres, in Pithoragarh as a precautionary measure.
The administration has advised parents not to send their children outside unnecessarily and to ensure they remain in safe locations during the period of heavy rainfall.
SCHOOLS CLOSED IN THESE UP DISTRICTS
Amid heavy rainfall and weather alerts across Uttar Pradesh, several more districts have announced school closures for September 26. The closure orders vary by district, with some administrations suspending classes up to Class 8 and others up to Class 12. In some districts, the orders cover government, aided, private and board-affiliated schools, while teachers and staff have been asked to report to school in certain areas. PUBLIC ADVISED TO AVOID RISKY AREAS
The Pithoragarh district administration has advised people to stay away from rivers, streams and ravines, particularly if water levels begin to rise. Motorists have also been asked to remain alert while travelling on hilly routes, especially in areas prone to falling rocks and landslides.
The District Magistrate has appealed to the public to immediately report any emergency situation to the concerned Tehsil administration or District Disaster Management Authority.
Residents have also been advised to rely only on official sources for weather and disaster-related information and follow instructions issued by the administration.
