A political row has erupted in Tamil Nadu over the Veeramani case, with allegations traded between political leaders over handling of the matter and court interventions. While demands for a Central Bureau of Investigation probe have been raised by the Bharatiya Janata Party, allegations have also been made regarding past inaction and claims of credit over the arrest of the accused. The matter, involving the alleged abuse of minor girls, was highlighted following directives by the special Protection of Children from Sexual Offences court judge Padma Shanmugasundaram, prompting police action. Meanwhile, the judicial custody of Veeramani has been extended till October 9.

The Congress party has escalated its attack on the Election Commission of India over changes introduced to Form 6, which is required for new voter registration. Alleging that alterations were made without statutory notification or required rule amendments under the Representation of the People Act, the party argued that the Chief Election Commissioner lacked the power to amend the form. Congress leaders demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and urged the Supreme Court to take suo motu cognizance of the matter, citing barriers created for first-time young voters. Concurrently, broader consultations have begun among opposition outfits under an expanded front. Archrivals Trinamool Congress and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) held telephonic talks, with Mamata Banerjee and M.A. Baby discussing joint opposition action and nationwide campaigns. Outfits including the Aam Aadmi Party, Biju Janata Dal, Bharat Rashtra Samithi, and DMK have also been approached to build a common platform against alleged commission irregularities.

External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar is set to address the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where he is expected to address geopolitical conflicts, counter-terrorism, and Global South interests. On the sidelines of the UNGA, India and Liberia formed a group of friends on seafarer safety following attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea and Gulf. During a media interaction, Jaishankar rejected a Pakistani journalist's question regarding terrorism, calling Pakistan a terrorist country. The bulletin also highlighted Indian diplomatic responses to Pakistan at the UN concerning cross-border terrorism, safe havens for terrorists, and issues regarding the Indus Waters Treaty.

In response to risks faced by merchant mariners, an initiative was established alongside Liberia to promote maritime safety. In addition, firm positions were maintained against cross-border terrorism sponsorship during diplomatic engagements.
