Raja Shivaji on OTT: When and where to watch Riteish Deshmukh's historical-drama
Riteish Deshmukh's Raja Shivaji has started streaming on Netflix in Marathi and Hindi. The OTT release extends the reach of the record-breaking Marathi hit beyond its theatrical run.

After a record-breaking run at the box office, Riteish Deshmukh's historical action drama Raja Shivaji has made its OTT debut. The film, based on the life and legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, is now streaming on Netflix in both Marathi and Hindi.
Starring Riteish Deshmukh in the titular role, Raja Shivaji was produced by Mumbai Film Company and Jio Studios. The film emerged as the highest-grossing Marathi film of all time, earning over Rs 117 crore worldwide during its theatrical run.
Netflix announced the film's arrival on the platform through its official Instagram handle on Friday. Sharing the poster, the streamer wrote, "Vidroh karne aa rahein hai Raje (The King is coming to lead a rebellion). Watch Raja Shivaji, out now, in Marathi and Hindi, on Netflix."

Directed by Riteish Deshmukh, the film has been produced by Genelia Deshmukh and Jyoti Deshpande under the banners of Mumbai Film Company and Jio Studios. Apart from Riteish, the ensemble cast features Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Bhagyashree, Fardeen Khan, Jitendra Joshi, Amole Gupte and Genelia Deshmukh.
Made on an estimated budget of Rs 75 crore, Raja Shivaji opened to mixed reviews from critics but struck a chord with audiences at the box office. Its worldwide collection of over Rs 117 crore helped it surpass Sairat's lifetime worldwide gross of Rs 110 crore, making it the highest-grossing Marathi film ever. Notably, the film achieved the milestone without an overseas release, which is typical for most Marathi productions.
The film also drew criticism for its visual effects. Responding to the feedback, Abhishek Bachchan defended the VFX, pointing to the film's budget limitations and saying it could not be compared with big-budget productions that allocate significantly more resources to visual effects.
