Aasif Khan says men without moustaches aren't real men, internet brings up Salman

Panchayat actor Aasif Khan faced criticism inside the Bigg Boss 20 house and on social media after his remarks about what makes a “real man” led to a heated exchange during the latest captaincy task. The argument began after Yung DSA’s team won the diss battle competition and became contenders for captaincy, but it soon moved beyond strategy and turned into a wider clash over moustaches, identity and masculinity.

The remarks also drew a sharp response on X, where users called out Aasif’s comments. Several users pointed to the show’s host Salman Khan, who also sports a no-moustache look. Inside the house, Gullu, Aman Gandhi and Mahhi Vij also objected to what Aasif said.

In the recent episode, Yung DSA’s team — ScoutOP, Aasif Khan, Love Gill, Amrapali Dubey, Rhiti Tiwari and Mary Kom — won the diss battle competition and became contenders for captaincy. Bigg Boss then announced another task and asked the remaining contestants to reject the person they did not want to become captain.

During the task, Gullu put the rejected stamp on Yung DSA’s face and said Yung believed he was running the entire house, which he said was not the case. He also objected to Yung shaping everyone’s moustache in his group in the same way, suggesting that Yung expected everyone to work according to him.

Later, when Aasif received the majority of the rejected stamps, he defended Yung on the moustache issue and said, “Hum naa Rajasthan se aate hain, yeh mooch humari pehchaan hai, aur muchmundo ko mardon mein consider nahi karte hum. Isliye daadi aisi hai (We come from Rajasthan. This moustache is our identity, and we don’t consider men without moustaches to be real men).”

Yung supported Aasif’s stance, but Gullu and Aman Gandhi objected. Gullu replied, “A lot of people don’t keep moustaches. Jinke aap show mein aaye ho voh bhi mooch nahi rakhte (the person in whose show you are currently in also doesn’t keep a moustache). Inki mardangi hai mooch (his manhood is just moustache).”

Mahhi Vij also criticised Aasif’s remarks and said, “Inhone bola real mard aise hote hain, real mard bilkul aise nahi hote. Real mard ghar ko jod kar rakhte hain, naaki inke tarah aggressive hote hai (He said real men are like this, real men are not at all like this. Real men keep their family together, rather than being aggressive like him).”

Backlash on social media

Aasif’s remarks drew criticism on X as well. One user wrote, “Asif Khan will again get class from Salman Khan for the worst statement of decade about masculinity (moustache) He is socially backward and mentally deprived (sic) .”

Another user said, “I almost forgot to mention this. asif LITERALLY said this shocking statement: ‘Agar mard ke paas mooch nahi hai, toh hum usko mard consider nahi karta.' Ab bina mooch waale mard aka bigg boss ke host, the stage is all yours. Aao, apni pe. (I almost forgot to mention this. Asif literally made this shocking statement: "If a man doesn't have a moustache, we don't consider him a man. So, to the moustache-less man—aka the host of Bigg Boss—the stage is all yours. Come on, over to you) (sic)."

Other happenings in the house

The latest row comes at a time when Rhiti Tiwari, who is part of Yung DSA’s team, has also been facing criticism online. She recently came under fire after an argument with Qazi Touqeer on the show, during which she called him a “fake baba and disgusting” and gave her own spin to his popular line by saying, “I’m a fraudster, baby”, before later apologising for one of her remarks.

The exchange began after Salman Khan pulled up Qazi for faking a medical emergency by enacting one himself. As housemates told Qazi that his actions had hurt them because they had been genuinely worried about him, Rhiti intervened. Qazi objected to her remark and asked her not to abuse him, after which she said, “Who are you? Why are you going to press my mute button? Am I your father’s servant? Don’t you know who I am? Who are you talking to?” Qazi then asked her not to bring his father into the argument.

In last week’s Weekend Ka Vaar, Salman also told Rhiti to show her true personality and said she should be known for her own work. This week, only Yung DSA and Isha Rikhi have been nominated for eviction, and either of them could leave the show as both have just one life left.
