Andhra couple goes to bridge with 3-year-old son, leaves him there, jumps into river
The couple reportedly arrived at the bridge on a scooter at around 10 pm. They left their child on the bridge before jumping into the Godavari river below.
A married couple allegedly jumped into a river in Andhra Pradesh's West Godavari district, leaving their three-year-old son behind on a bridge. The incident took place on Thursday night.
The couple, identified as Dodda Sai (29) and Dodda Sirisha (28), reportedly arrived at the bridge on a scooter at around 10 pm. They allegedly left their child on the bridge before jumping into the Godavari River below.
On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and took custody of the abandoned child and the scooter. Police subsequently launched a search operation in the river to trace the missing couple.
According to police, the duo had reportedly been residing in Bhimavaram. The reason behind the alleged suicide attempt could not be ascertained immediately.
The police have registered a case and launched an investigation. Further details regarding Dodda Sai and Dodda Sirisha's whereabouts are awaited.
