21 rescued as two merchant vessels collide off Gujarat coast; Coast Guard launches rescue op

Twenty-one of the 24 crew members aboard merchant vessel MV KMAX EMPEROR were safely evacuated after it collided with another merchant vessel, MV TRUE MARINER, off the outer anchorage OTB Kandla in Gujarat, the Indian Coast Guard said.
Following the collision, the Indian Coast Guard launched a swift rescue operation to evacuate the crew members from MV KMAX EMPEROR.
The Coast Guard said 21 of the 24 crew members aboard MV KMAX EMPEROR were safely evacuated following the collision.
Three crew members remain onboard the vessel to support its operations, according to the Coast Guard.
POLLUTION RESPONSE MEASURES ACTIVATED
Meanwhile, the Indian Coast Guard has activated comprehensive pollution response measures following the collision.
It is also closely coordinating with the Directorate General of Shipping, central agencies and the state administration as part of the response.
The Coast Guard said it remains fully alert and committed to ensuring maritime safety and preserving Gujarat's coastal ecosystem.
