4 killed as 3-storey under-construction building collapses in Haryana, 13 rescued

The building collapsed around 3 pm in Dhulkot village, leaving several workers feared trapped under the debris. Police and district administration teams rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation with the help of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), fire brigade and ambulance services.
Ambala SP Ajit Singh Shekhawat said four deaths had been confirmed so far and 13 people had been rescued from the debris. "Our immediate priority right now is the rescue work. If any negligence is found in this matter, legal action will be taken," Shekhawat said.
FOUR BODIES RECOVERED, 13 RESCUED
Earlier, Ambala City SDM Darshan Kumar had said two bodies were recovered from the debris and several people were taken to hospital. The death toll has since risen to four, while the number of rescued people has reached 13.
Officials had initially estimated that 15 to 20 people could be trapped under the debris, but the exact number was not confirmed.
The SDM had said 12 individuals had been identified at that stage, including the deceased. Rescue teams continued to search through the debris as the operation progressed.
NDRF, SDRF LEAD RESCUE OPERATION
NDRF and SDRF teams are currently engaged in the rescue operation, along with police, fire brigade personnel and other emergency services.
The agencies are working to clear the debris and check for anyone who may still be trapped inside the collapsed structure. SP Shekhawat said several of the workers at the site were migrant workers.
OWNER, CONTRACTOR ABSENT FROM SPOT
The SDM had earlier said there was no confirmed information on the exact number of people inside the building when it collapsed. The building's ownership details were also yet to be established.
According to the official, both the contractor and the building owner had left the site. Police said legal action would be taken if any negligence was found to have caused the collapse.
The rescue operation remains underway.
