PM Modi pushes social media outreach with new BJP office-bearers
PM Narendra Modi met the BJP's newly appointed national office-bearers and urged them to stay active on social media. The emphasis came as the party prepared to expand youth outreach and review election strategy.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday interacted with all 65 newly appointed BJP national office-bearers during a meeting at the party headquarters in New Delhi, urging the new team to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level, develop fresh ideas and deepen its connect with the public.
The meeting lasted around four-and-a-quarter hours and marked Modi's first interaction with the new team since BJP president Nitin Nabin announced the 65-member organisational team on August 17.
During the meeting, Modi personally interacted with every one of the 65 office-bearers present, according to sources. He asked each of them about their name and their best experience in life.
The office-bearers also shared their experiences and details of their previous organisational work with the Prime Minister. Modi listened to their accounts and discussed their experiences and perspectives.
According to people present at the meeting, Modi appeared in the role of an Organisation Secretary, drawing on his own experience from his time as the BJP's Sangathan Mantri.
He also shared experiences from that period and discussed strategies for taking the organisation forward.
An office-bearer who attended the meeting said the four-and-a-quarter hours passed quickly during the interaction.
FOCUS ON YOUTH, PUBLIC OUTREACH
Modi conveyed to the new team that the organisation needed to move forward with new ideas and perspectives while strengthening its connection with people.
He emphasised the need to strengthen the party's grassroots organisation and expand public outreach, with particular focus on connecting with young people and new demographic groups.
The Prime Minister also discussed the current political situation and issues concerning the organisation with the office-bearers.
The emphasis on youth outreach comes as the BJP prepares to intensify its Yuva Samvad initiative, aimed at sustained engagement with young people.
Earlier in the day, Nabin chaired a meeting of the new office-bearers where the party discussed organisational strategy, upcoming Assembly elections, grassroots mobilisation and communication of government initiatives.
BJP STEPS UP ORGANISATIONAL PREPARATIONS
The new 65-member team includes prominent figures such as former Union minister Smriti Irani and RSS national executive member Ram Madhav, who have returned to key organisational roles.
Modi also held separate meetings with Nabin, BL Santosh and Shivkumar during his visit to the BJP headquarters.
The BJP is simultaneously reviewing preparations for upcoming Assembly elections and planning programmes aimed at strengthening its organisation and expanding its outreach across different sections of voters.
