Video: Gujarat man rains punches on wife after she confronts him over 'affair'
A viral video from Rajkot purportedly shows a man assaulting his wife after she confronted him over a suspected affair. Police say no complaint has been filed yet in the matter.
A woman's decision to confront her husband over his alleged infidelity ended in a brutal assault, with a video purportedly showing the attack going viral on social media.
The video is reportedly from Gujarat's Rajkot. It shows a man repeatedly beating a woman, though the authenticity ofthe footage has not been independently verified. Police said they have not yet received a complaint.
According to local reports, the assault took place after the woman confronted her husband over his suspected extramarital affair with a woman who had been tutoring their daughter at home. The husband is reportedly a factory owner, while the alleged affair is said to involve the daughter's tuition teacher. However, these claims have not been officially confirmed.
It is further alleged that an argument over the suspected affair escalated into violence, during which the husband assaulted his wife. CCTV footage shows the man repeatedly punching the woman even as she tries to dodge the blows.
The video of alleged assault has since been widely circulated online.
A local police officer said that no complaint had been received regarding the viral video.
"If we receive a complaint, we will investigate the matter and take action as per the law," Inspector SR Meghani told India Today's sister channel Aaj Tak.
Police said they are awaiting a formal complaint before proceeding with an investigation. Officials added that the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault and the claims of an extramarital affair can only be established after a police probe.
