Trainee aircraft crashes in UP's Kasganj, woman pilot injured

A woman trainee pilot was injured after a training aircraft crashed during a routine sortie in Uttar Pradesh's Kasganj district.

A trainee aircraft crashed during a routine training flight in Uttar Pradesh's Kasganj district on Monday, injuring a woman trainee pilot.

The Chetak Aviation Cessna 152 aircraft went down near a highway, triggering panic among local residents. People rushed to the crash site immediately after the incident and helped rescue the injured pilot before emergency teams arrived.

She was administered first aid at a local facility and later referred to Agra for advanced medical treatment. Officials said her condition is being closely monitored.

According to preliminary information, the aircraft was on a regular training sortie when it crashed. Local residents played a key role in the initial rescue operation until police and other emergency responders reached the spot.

Senior police and administrative officials visited the crash site and supervised rescue and security measures. The area was cordoned off and the wreckage was secured to preserve evidence and prevent any interference with the investigation.

Authorities are yet to ascertain the exact cause of the crash. Officials are examining multiple possibilities, including a technical malfunction, adverse weather conditions and other operational factors.

Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said it has launched an investigation into the incident.

"A Chetak Aviation Cessna 152 aircraft VT-AFB engaged in solo flying at Aligarh, has crash-landed in a field in Kasgunj. She is reported to be safe. The DGCA is investigating the occurrence" the official said.

The district administration also said that a detailed inquiry has been ordered and the cause of the accident will be determined only after the investigation is completed. Officials from the relevant agencies are collecting evidence and examining the wreckage as part of the probe.
