Video: UP groom fires 16 rounds in 6 seconds from illegal gun at mandap, case filed

Sixteen rounds in just six seconds. A groom in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr turned his wedding celebrations into a burst of gunfire, firing repeatedly from an illegal pistol while seated at the mandap. The footage, recorded during his wedding in 2022, has resurfaced nearly four years later and gone viral on social media, prompting police to register a case and launch a hunt for the man.

The man has been identified as Shadab, a resident of Khurja in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr. According to police, the firing took place during his wedding ceremony in 2022, nearly four years before the video surfaced online.

The video, which is around five to six seconds long, shows Shadab, dressed as a groom and wearing a sehra and pearl garland, sitting at mandap and firing repeatedly from a pistol during the celebrations. Police said around 15 to 16 rounds appear to have been fired in the short clip.

The clip of the celebrations began circulating widely on social media around noon on September 7, triggering concern in the district. Questions have also been raised over the type of weapon used, with some identifying it as a Jigana pistol.

Taking note of the viral footage, police registered a case at Khurja Nagar police station and formed multiple teams to trace and arrest the accused. They are also working to recover the weapon used in the firing.

Shobhit Kumar, Circle Officer, Khurja, said the firing was carried out by the accused moments before his wedding ceremony in 2022.

“Police have identified the man in the viral video as Shadab, who fired a weapon during his wedding in 2022. A case has been registered at Khurja Nagar police station, and teams have been formed to arrest him and recover the weapon. Further legal action will follow,” the police said.
