Demolition Of Saharanpur Collectorate Mosque Sparks Political Row
A controversy has erupted following the demolition of a mosque located within the Saharanpur collectorate premises at five in the morning. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi criticised the action taken by the Uttar Pradesh administration, stating that places of worship should not be bulldozed on flimsy grounds and questioning the constitutional guarantee of freedom of religion. He stated that the mosque had existed since 1911 on privately donated land, while the collectorate office was built later. Owaisi questioned the urgency of the early morning demolition and alleged that the state administration avoided moving higher courts because it was at fault in the matter.
