Key questions surfaced over requirements for parents' and grandparents' details without formal rule amendments. The disclosures have drawn sharp reactions from opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav, and Arvind Kejriwal, who demanded strict accountability and targeted Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Rejecting allegations of an internal rift, the Election Commission maintained that internal dissenting notes and diverse viewpoints reflect routine checks and balances within statutory frameworks. The Bharatiya Janata Party defended the poll body, describing internal deliberations and differences of opinion as evidence of a functioning democracy.

Lady Shri Ram College in Delhi suspended offline classes and moved online after police shot at an accused in the Kalkaji gang-rape case barely 50 metres from the college's back gate. The 17-year-old victim was allegedly gang-raped by three men posing as policemen at Astha Kunj Park, located around 3.5 kilometres from the campus. Sahil is seen handing over his mobile phone after allegedly using ChatGPT to copy answers during the test, before being asked to leave. He died by suicide hours later. Amid allegations of caste discrimination and abetment to suicide against the faculty member, police and Mumbai Crime Branch officials are verifying the video alongside statements from student witnesses and IIT authorities.

The Election Commission cannot dismiss recent media revelations as mere internal disagreement or invoke collective responsibility. Two Election Commissioners raised repeated concerns regarding the centralised control of electoral roll software, the rollout of Form Six, and instances where ground-level statutory officers were overruled or prevented from implementing legal decisions. Resolving the matter requires an independent forensic audit of the software, tracking audit trails for additions, deletions, modifications, and reversals across all constituencies to identify authorisations and overridden statutory decisions. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar must address these concerns directly, alongside clarification from fellow commissioners on their formal concurrence, to preserve institutional credibility.
