IIT Bombay Student Death: Crime Branch Probe, Caste Harassment Allegation & Campus Split

Tensions have flared across the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay following the death of twenty-year-old student Sahil Wakhure, triggering a sharp divide on campus. Sahil's parents have alleged sustained caste-based harassment, slurs, and threats, demanding the arrest of Professor Surya Narayan Dula and Director Shirish Khedare. In contrast, the IIT Bombay faculty forum has supported Professor Dula, maintaining that he was only carrying out his duties after detecting exam malpractice and that no evidence of caste discrimination exists. IIT Bombay management has constituted a ten-member committee to investigate the matter within a week and sent Professor Dula on leave. Demolition Drive in Delhi's Shalimar Bagh: Madina Masjid and Nearby Houses Razed for Road Project

A demolition drive was carried out under heavy police deployment in Delhi's Shalimar Bagh area to facilitate an ongoing road-widening project leading to Max Hospital. Delhi Kalkaji Gang Rape: LSR Shifts Classes Online Following Police Encounter Near Campus

A 17-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped inside a DDA-managed park in Delhi's Kalkaji area by three men who posed as police officers after she visited the nearby temple with a male friend on her birthday. Following the incident, the victim's friend alerted the police via a PCR call, initiating a probe. The Delhi women's commission took suo motu cognisance, seeking an action-taken report from the police. Safety concerns were raised regarding the park's poor lighting and open gates. Subsequently, Lady Shri Ram College suspended offline classes and shifted to online teaching after a police encounter with an accused occurred nearly 50 metres from the college back gate. The bulletin highlighted that four minors were raped across the national capital within a span of 12 days, raising concerns over women's security.
