A special intensive revision of Delhi's electoral roll has triggered widespread controversy following the deletion of 47.57 lakh voters and notices sent to over 33 lakh others out of 97.54 lakh draft roll voters. The affected individuals include former diplomats, bureaucrats, judges, and politicians. Former diplomat G. Parthasarathy stated his details were not mapped to the 2002 roll and criticised the execution as casual, calling for accountability among senior officials. Notices were also issued to prominent figures, prompting the Election Commission to instruct booth-level officers to designate VIPs on their verification apps and extend home verification to elderly and specially-abled citizens.

In an interview with India Today, Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka declared plans to launch an agitation starting Gandhi Jayanti if Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar does not resign. Highlighting concerns from ground visits in Rajasthan, Ranka remarked, "It is a rigged game," asserting that citizens feel elections are compromised. He emphasized that genuine democratic change is blocked when election integrity is compromised, calling for structural fixes within the Election Commission. Ranka addressed questions regarding alliances with opposition parties, noting that multiple civil society groups and political forces are speaking in unison on the issue. Questioning why ruling party spokespersons defend the Election Commission instead of the commissioners clarifying reports themselves, Ranka warned that street demonstrations will begin from October 2. He claimed that an estimated 13 crore citizens have had their voter records deleted without transparency.

In an interview with India Today, Congress leader Pawan Khera launched a sharp attack against the Election Commission of India and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged anomalies in voter lists and the electoral process. Defending his party's stance against BJP criticism, Khera claimed that evidence of wrongdoing had emerged across multiple states and within recent investigative reports. He asserted that the poll body had lost its sanctity, alleging systemic deletions of voters from electoral rolls. Calling for accountability, Khera declared that Gyanesh Kumar was merely a pawn representing higher authorities in the government, demanding his immediate resignation from office and stating that he should apologize to the nation.

In an interview with India Today's Gaurav Sawant, strategic affairs expert Professor Brahma Chellaney addressed the controversy surrounding the release and departure of Matthew VanDyke and other foreign nationals accused of illegal activities and arms supply to Myanmar rebels. Chellaney asserted, "Under successive Indian governments, India has surrendered to external pressure," comparing the development to past episodes such as the Bhopal gas tragedy, the Purulia arms drop, and the Italian marines case. He criticized the decision to allow individuals facing serious national security allegations to exit the country on default bail, stating, "These seven men will not return to India. They have been deliberately let go free. Let's be clear on that. This case is dead. It's dead as a dodo." Furthermore, Chellaney highlighted the direct regional fallout for India's Northeast, warning that the flow of drones and weaponry to Chin rebels in Myanmar fuels Kuki insurgent groups active in the ongoing ethnic strife in Manipur.
