Telangana Shock: Nursing Student Found Dead With Body Injuries Outside Home

A tragic incident unfolded in Uttar Pradesh's Azamgarh following an eight-hour siege where a man named Arvind Singh shot dead his wife Babita, two priests, and his son. The incident occurred during a ceremony organised following his brother's demise. Upon returning home, the accused reportedly questioned the priests about their Aadhaar cards before opening fire. While two priests managed to flee, two others along with Arvind's wife were killed on the spot. Arvind subsequently held his three children hostage inside a room. Police personnel and family members attempted to negotiate his surrender, but Arvind issued death threats, shot his son, and opened indiscriminate fire on the police. In retaliatory firing conducted for self-defence and child rescue, Arvind was injured and later declared dead at the hospital alongside his son. Police successfully rescued two daughters from the residence and rushed them to the hospital.

Students of Lady Shri Ram College held a solidarity march in Delhi demanding better women's safety measures following a gang rape case reported in Kalkaji and a subsequent police encounter near the college back gate. The students flagged critical security lapses around the campus, including non-functional closed-circuit television cameras, unstaffed Pink Booths, inadequate police patrolling, and dark stretches due to poor street lighting on National Park road. Citing persistent security fears and past incidents of harassment and eve-teasing, some classes shifted to online mode as students expressed unease about accessing peripheral routes after sundown. The demonstration highlighted growing concerns over law and order in the national capital following multiple reported sexual assault incidents in recent days.

A major political debate has erupted following allegations against Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the electoral process.
