Some people rediscover home again and again as they move through life, while others never find another after once leaving their roots. At the end of the day, everyone strives to achieve that perfect living space—one that acts not just as a comfort zone, but as an authentic extension of their personality. Yet, when you are both the client and the designer, the toughest battle is showing the occupants and yourself, the absolute best version of your work. In a city like Mumbai, we are living in an era where footprints are shrinking, but lifestyle expectations are growing exponentially. There is a constant tussle between reality and expectations and the architect must bridge that gap. Design is the ultimate harmony reached between raw thoughts and real execution. My husband and I bought an 850 sq ft flat in Versova, our own little world inside this bustling city and this is the story of how we realised our thoughts into things.
