Health Watch | Railway station sanitation: E. coli in drinking water

A parliamentary panel committee last week examined a CAG audit of 512 non-suburban railway stations that had found serious gaps in sanitation and passenger amenities, including E. coli contamination in drinking water samples, poorly maintained toilets, waterlogging and overflowing sewerage systems. Water coolers at eight stations had tested positive for E. coli, raising concerns about faecal contamination and the risk of water-borne diseases.
