Jaya Bachchan’s laugh has become the unexpected highlight of a Mumbai book launch. A video of the veteran actor sharing a light moment with Gulzar at the event has gone viral, with fans admitting they rarely see her this cheerful in public. The moment came at the launch of Dr P Jagannath’s book, DR BLUE: A Cancer Surgeon’s Journey into the Human Side of Healing. Amitabh Bachchan was also at the event, where the couple reunited with Gulzar.

In the video, Big B is seen helping Jaya as she walks up the stairs to the stage. Once she reaches Gulzar, the filmmaker and lyricist puts an arm around her and the two exchange a few words. Whatever he says seems to amuse Jaya, who breaks into a wide smile before bursting into laughter. It’s a small, unguarded moment, but that’s precisely what caught the internet’s attention.

Fans were quick to react to Jaya’s laughter, with many saying they were seeing a particularly rare side of the actor. “Keep smiling. A smile looks good on you. Gulzaar’s Guddi. A smile looks good on everyone,” one user wrote.

Another commented, “I have seen her laughing for the first time.” Someone else simply wrote, “Oh, Jaya ji laughs too.” A fan praised her appearance, saying, “My all-time favourite, Jaya ji, ageing gracefully, with no layers of make-up.” There were plenty of similar reactions, including, “Wow, she’s smiling for once,” and, “That innocent smile of Jaya ji.”

The warmth of the moment also struck a chord because Jaya and Gulzar go back a long way. The two worked together on Guddi, the 1971 film that starred Jaya in one of her most memorable early roles. Gulzar also shares a long professional association with Amitabh, having collaborated with him on several films over the years.

But for a few seconds at the Mumbai event, none of that history seemed to matter. It was simply Jaya Bachchan laughing with an old friend, and fans clearly weren't going to let the moment pass unnoticed.
