Want to be free again: Angelina Jolie hasn't dated since divorce from Brad Pitt
Actor Angelina Jolie said she has not dated since her divorce from Brad Pitt in 2016. While promoting her upcoming film Coutoure, she expressed her feelings about finding love.
Nearly a decade after her divorce from her actor, husband Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie has shared a rare glimpse into her personal life, revealing that she hasn't dated anyone since the split. The Oscar-winning actor said her focus has remained firmly on raising her six children, though she now feels she's beginning to rediscover parts of herself.
Jolie made the remarks while promoting her upcoming film Couture, in which she plays Maxine Walker, an American filmmaker diagnosed with breast cancer who unexpectedly finds love.
Speaking to Yahoo Entertainment, Jolie said, "To be candid, I haven't dated since I divorced a decade ago. So I kind of get in my head that that aspect of me is not centred in my life if I'm focusing on my children, my family."
She added that, for the first time in years, she feels she is beginning to embrace a new chapter.
"So yes, things are changing, but in a way I didn't expect. It doesn't feel like I'm 51 and starting to think of being older. I'm thinking I have to live again. Be free again. In a way that maybe life has broken me a little bit. I've come around to being a little bit more the person I used to be," she said.
Jolie also spoke about the role her daughters have played in that journey. She said they have encouraged her to reconnect with the person she was before life became centred on motherhood, helping her reflect on the values she hopes to pass on to them, including strength, kindness, confidence and courage.
According to Jolie, her daughters now want to see her not only as their mother but also as a woman with her own identity, dreams and interests. Their support, she said, has prompted her to revisit parts of herself that she had set aside over the years.
Jolie and Pitt share six children – Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne. The former couple's relationship ended after Jolie filed for divorce in 2016, following two years of marriage. Since then, she has largely kept her personal life out of the public eye while focusing on her family and career.
