Mahesh Babu shares glowing review of Lokesh Kanagaraj's 'too cool' film DC
Mahesh Babu praised director Matheswaran's DC on X, calling it original and outstanding. His post comes as the film gains box-office momentum and fuels chatter around actor and director Lokesh Kanagaraj.

Actor Mahesh Babu, who often takes to social media to praise films he enjoys, has now reacted to director Arun Matheswaran's DC, calling the recently released Tamil action drama 'too cool, original and outstanding'. The film stars Lokesh Kanagaraj in his acting debut alongside actor Wamiqa Gabbi.
Sharing his reaction on X, Mahesh praised DC as an original and outstanding film, saying he loved every bit of it and congratulating the entire team.
Lokesh Kanagaraj responded by thanking Mahesh for his wishes and said the actor's words meant a lot to him. The exchange has also caught attention amid ongoing speculation about a possible collaboration between Mahesh and Lokesh, although neither has officially confirmed any project.
Thanking Mahesh for his response, music composer Anirudh Ravichander, who scored the film, replied, "Thank you so much sir." Anirudh has also been receiving praise from audiences for his work on the film, particularly for the way his score complements its dark and violent world.
Mahesh's reaction comes as DC continues to find momentum at the box office. According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the film has collected Rs 63.06 crore gross in India and Rs 21.25 crore from overseas, taking its worldwide gross to Rs 84.31 crore. Its India nett (gross minus taxes) collection stands at Rs 54.76 crore.
Interestingly, the film's Day 10 collection has surpassed its opening-day figure, suggesting that positive word of mouth has helped the film gain momentum during its theatrical run.
Directed by Arun Matheswaran, DC stars Lokesh Kanagaraj as Devadas, a man carrying a traumatic past who embarks on a path of revenge and redemption after his life is disrupted by violence. Wamiqa Gabbi, Sanjana Krishnamoorthy, Krish Dayal, Avinash Raghudevan and Thalaivasal Vijay are also part of the cast.
The film reinterprets Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's Devdas as a darker and more violent revenge drama. Its performances, direction and technical aspects have received attention, while Anirudh's music, including Raaga of Revenge, has emerged as one of the film's talking points.
Meanwhile, Mahesh Babu is currently working on SS Rajamouli's Varanasi, which also stars Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran. The film marks Mahesh's first collaboration with Rajamouli, with the actor playing Rudra in the globe-spanning adventure. Varanasi is scheduled to release worldwide on April 7, 2027.
