Toxic box office Day 2: Yash's film struggles to match Dhurandhar 2 tsunami
Yash's Toxic dropped sharply on its second day at the box office after a huge opening. The fall in collections, shows and occupancy left it trailing the Day 2 pace of major pan-India blockbusters.
Yash’s Toxic saw a sharp drop at the box office on its second day, with the Geetu Mohandas directorial struggling to stay in step with the kind of Day 2 surge seen by major pan-India titles such as Dhurandhar 2. The film had opened strongly and entered the Rs 100-crore club on Day 1, but its Thursday numbers were markedly lower.
After posting an India nett opening of Rs 101.10 crore and a worldwide gross of Rs 140.75 crore, Toxic remained ahead of several big films on some Day 1 measures. However, the second-day fall in collections, show count and occupancy changed the picture, leaving it behind the Day 2 numbers recorded by Dhurandhar 2, Pushpa 2, KGF: Chapter 2 and RRR.
Toxic collected Rs 36.40 crore nett in India on Day 2 across 22,629 shows. Overseas, it earned Rs 10 crore on the day, taking its total overseas gross to Rs 26.25 crore. In two days, the film’s India gross stood at Rs 164.50 crore, India nett at Rs 137.50 crore and worldwide gross at Rs 190.75 crore.
On Day 1, the film had recorded an India nett collection of Rs 101.10 crore from 24,579 shows, with overall occupancy at 56.1%. On Day 2, the show count fell to 22,629 and occupancy dropped to 26.6%, alongside the fall in collections to Rs 36.40 crore nett.
Hindi contributed the biggest share on Day 2 with Rs 23 crore from 16,251 shows at 26% occupancy. Kannada earned Rs 8.50 crore from 1,678 shows and recorded the highest occupancy at 51%. Telugu collected Rs 3 crore from 2,325 shows at 21% occupancy, while Tamil made Rs 1.50 crore from 2,016 shows at 17% occupancy. Malayalam contributed Rs 0.40 crore from 359 shows, with 32% occupancy.

Comparison with other releases
Toxic’s Day 2 collection remained well below other major pan-India blockbusters. Dhurandhar 2 collected about Rs 80.72 crore nett in India on Day 2, Pushpa 2 earned Rs 93.80 crore nett, KGF: Chapter 2 made Rs 90.50 crore nett, and RRR collected Rs 86.70 crore nett.
However, Toxic also went past Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar on Day 1 and Day 2. The Ranveer Singh starrer had collected Rs 28 crore nett across 14,057 shows on its opening day, taking its India gross to Rs 33.60 crore and worldwide gross to Rs 41.35 crore. On Day 2, it had earned around Rs 33.10 crore. The film's cumulative two-day India net collection stood at approximately Rs 58 crore across all languages.

India Today gave Toxic a rating of 2 stars. A part of the review read, "Toxic is simply all about Raya, one of the characters Yash plays in the film. He is the plot, the star, the hero and the villain. Everyone else is merely a cog in his story, entering at crucial moments and shaping his actions in ways that ultimately push the narrative forward."
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic stars Yash alongside Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria. The film released in theatres in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and English. It has also been in the news for its intimate scenes and for sequences that appear to show women in a not-so-favourable light through imagery and dialogue. The CBFC cleared the film with no cuts and gave it an A certificate.
